We are pleased to invite you to the Vetopia Equine Leadership Experience, taking place 11–13 June 2026. This exclusive 1.5-day, in-person event will bring together leaders and emerging leaders from 26 equine clinics across 7 Vetopia countries, dedicated to leadership, organisational sustainability, and the future of equine practice. Led by Dr. Mike Pownall, the programme draws on his distinctive professional background. Before becoming a veterinarian, he worked as a farrier for seven years, building strong expertise in hoof care and lameness, and later earned the Certified Farrier designation from the American Farriers Association. After more than a decade of clinical practice focused on lameness, podiatry, and dentistry, Dr. Pownall now consults on lameness and podiatry cases at McKee-Pownall and contributes to practice management. He is also an internationally recognised speaker on social media and veterinary practice management. This is not a traditional congress, but an intimate leadership retreat designed for meaningful exchange and cross-border collaboration. Mike Pownall
Prior to becoming a veterinarian Dr. Pownall was a farrier for 7 years. Dr. Pownall worked with a farrier/veterinarian in the US with special interests in lameness and hoof disorders. Upon returning to Canada he started his own business with a clientele consisting of Jumpers, 3-Day Eventers, Dressage, Pleasure Horses and hoof related lameness cases. He also passed the Certified Farrier test of the American Farriers Association.
After over 10 years of practicing in the field with a focus on lameness, podiatry and dentistry, Dr. Pownall now consults with the veterinarians of McKee-Pownall on lameness and podiatry cases. A major part of his role now includes managing the practices. Dr. Pownall also speaks internationally on social media and practice management for veterinarians.
